According to TFL.org, a fanlisting is,"...simply an online list of fans of a subject, such as a TV show, actor, or musician, that is created by an individual and open for fans from around the world to join."

Maria-sama ga Miteru (sometimes shortened to MariMite) is based on a series of novels written by Konno Oyuki. The novels, in turn, inspired the manga and anime series. The story is about Lillian Gakuen, an all girl Catholic school where girls use a 'soeur' system. Each upperclassman takes an underclassman as her souer (sister) and is like a guide for her. The focus in the series is on the Yamayurikai, which is a group of girls like the student council. Each girl in the Yamayurikai is designated as one of three roses. There is Rosa Chinesis (red), Rosa Gigantea (white), and Rosa Foetida (yellow). The girls who take on those roles are seniors, and their soeurs are called 'Rosa --- en bouton' or Rosa --- in training. In turn, their younger soeur is just called their petite soeur as they are typically a first year student.

Rei and Yoshino are dedicated soeurs and cousins in the Rosa Foetida family.
